INNOVATION CULTURE  HAS MOVED WITH UTIB’S TRAINING

The 8-week R&D Centers Capacity Building Support training organized by UTİB for the finalist companies within the scope of TechXtile Innovation League 2021 has been completed.

The 8-week training program organized by Uludağ Textile Exporters Association (UTİB) for the TechXtile Innovation League 2021 finalist companies has ended. Regarding the training program carried out under the title of R&D Centers Capacity Building Support (mini-MBA Program), Pınar Taşdelen Engin, Chairman of the Board of UTİB, stated that they aim to raise innovative awareness in individuals and institutions and said, “Our education adventure has added a significant mobility to the innovation culture.”

TARGET IS EXPORT BASED ON INNOVATION

TechXtile Program Coordinator Ufuk Batum, who stated that the aim of the training, in which the presentations were evaluated, was to increase exports based on innovation, said, “We exchanged ideas to increase initiatives from Turkey in our training, where we repeatedly emphasized that the cooperation of R&D centers with Start-Ups is of great importance. The information we learned from cross-domains and different sectors during our education drew a roadmap for us. Every company has a business model, culture and character. In the training, where these differences came together, our knowledge came out effectively. In the last training, we easily observed that our meetings, where our savings were affected by collision, made interactive progress.”

‘EXPERIENCED PARTICIPANTS MANUFACTURED AND DEVELOPED’

Batum, who also stated that the experienced participants who received training in the Mini-MBA Program developed by producing, said, “Managing, understanding and applying rapidly developing and changing technologies in all areas forms the basis of innovative business ideas. Entrepreneurs need to be activated and supported in order to develop innovation-based exports in our country. Our 8-week training gave our participants a culture of entrepreneurship and development in line with this purpose. I would like to thank the UTİB family for giving us the opportunity to come together in this organization, and I wish that similar practices will be implemented in our country.”

R&D CENTERS CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT TRAINING MARATHON CONTINUES AT UTİB

Reyhan Miray Reyhan, the winner of TechXtile Start-Up Challenge’s Scale-Up category, was the guest of UTİB’s R&D Centers Capacity Building Support training. In the training given by Ufuk Batum to the Innovation League 2021 finalists, the participants exchanged ideas about entrepreneurship with Reyhan and Batum.

UTİB held the third training for finalist companies within the scope of TechXtile Innovation League 2021. TechXtile Start-Up Challenge Scale-Up winner Reyhan Miray Reyhan participated in the R&D Centers Capacity Building Support (mini-MBA program) training marathon, which continues without slowing down. TechXtile Program Coordinator Ufuk Batum said, “We always emphasize the importance of R&D centers working together with Start-Ups. I believe that the mutual exchange of ideas with Reyhan Miray Reyhan, one of the newest and most successful examples of the rapidly developing entrepreneurship ecosystem in Turkey, will be very beneficial.”

“SOCIETY NEEDS TO CATCH INNOVATION”

Ufuk Batum also noted that creating and implementing a business model offers a great advantage to the development of companies and drew attention to the critical importance of innovation. Batum also advises  Start-Ups: “Creating a business model is an important tool for the success of the business. We should determine our customer relations according to the segments in our business model. While it is of great importance to position the product well in the market, if there is no continuous financing opportunity, the product may be deleted from the market. With the pandemic, the volume of e-commerce has increased considerably. Among the channels of reaching customers, digital ones have gained great momentum. Society as well as companies need to catch up with innovation. There is an important piece of advice I would like to give to Start-Ups. While buyers are just getting used to alternative products, brands warn the market about unconventional products with a big budget, which can be advantageous for new product developers. The entry of large firms into the market should not frighten small firms. You should see yourself in competition, not in struggling with them. Once the market share is established, there are enough buyers for everyone. The important thing is to understand the shortcomings of the products in the market and to shape the product accordingly”.

“I DESIGNED PRODUCT FOR WOMEN TO FEEL FREE”

Reyhan Miray Reyhan, who introduced the special menstrual underwear she developed and explained how she came from the emergence of the ‘PEDDON’ brand, said that she gained many achievements during the TechXtile Start-up Challenge process and thanked Ufuk Batum for her support as a mentor in the process. Reyhan, with my project named “My Most Special Day is My Every Day”, I became the winner of the Service-Developed Entrepreneur Category (Scale-Up), in which entrepreneurs whose ventures have passed the idea stage and have developed products or services with commercialization and scaling potential compete. There is a story behind the emergence of my product. That’s why I think users are interested. We designed a product so that women can be free at a time when they feel uncomfortable. Since we are designing a product that women will feel free from, we draw our brand strategy accordingly.

THE TRAINING MARATHON STARTED IN TECHXTILE INNOVATION LEAGUE

‘R&D CENTERS SHOULD WORK TOGETHER WITH START-UPS’

UTİB held the first training for finalist companies within the scope of TechXtile Innovation League 2021. The message was given to companies that the money spent on R&D and innovation is an investment.

Training organized by Uludag Textile Exporters Association (UTİB) within the framework of the Innovation League, organized to raise awareness of innovation in organizations and to support innovation-based export growth, has started. TechXtile Program Coordinator Ufuk Batum, who gave training on R&D Centers Capacity Building Support in the first of the 8-week training, said, “The entrepreneurship ecosystem in Turkey is developing rapidly. While Start-Ups are increasing day by day, R&D centers need to work together with Start-Ups.”

‘MONEY SPENT ON R&D AND INNOVATION IS INVESTMENT’

Noting that companies that want to survive should give importance to R&D and innovation, Ufuk Batum said, “Especially in the competitive environment of developed markets; It has been realized that R&D and innovation are critical for companies to survive and be successful. In our country, both our large companies and SMEs need to allocate a significant budget to R&D and innovation based on their revenues. I recommend seeing this budget not as an expense but as a real investment because any money spent in this area will return much larger gains in the future. In our country, the corporate world and the Start-Up world are not in much communication with each other. When I examined the R&D centers, I saw that one of the basic needs is knowing how to benefit from Start-Ups. R&D centers,

“IF RESOURCES ARE LOW, WE MUST USE THEM EFFICIENTLY”

Stating that the budget allocated to R&D centers in our country is limited, Ufuk Batum underlined the need to use resources efficiently. Noting that R&D centers can undertake joint works even if they are competitors, Batum said, “Even though as engineers, we give much more importance to the technical aspects of the work; It is very important for us to improve ourselves in financial literacy, budget management, understanding customer needs, and communication. One of the problems of the industry is not being able to become a brand. Although the studies on R&D started late in Turkey, they have advantages in closing the distance. When we went to the field with our friends and made visits, I saw that the contact with the customer exceeded my expectations. Communication of our friends in the R&D department with the outside is of great importance. One of the shortcomings we see in the field while the R&D culture is developing and budgeting is the limited human resources and budget. R&D centers in Turkey do not work together because they say they are competitors at the same time. But there are R&D examples in the world where competitors are working together. If the resource is scarce, we should think about how to use that resource efficiently.”

TECHXTILE ENTREPRENEURS MEET WITH INDUSTRIAL IN IZMIR.

YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS THAT RANKED IN TECHXTILE TALKED ABOUT THEIR PROJECTS TO İZMİR INDUSTRIALISTS.

The finalists of the Techxtile Start-Up Challenge, organized by UTİB to bring qualified entrepreneurial ideas to the textile industry, met with the Aegean industrialists.

ENGİN: WE WANT TO EXPAND THE ENTREPRENEURSHIP ECOSYSTEM

Making the opening speech of the program, UTİB Chairman of the Board Pınar Taşdelen Engin said, “Despite the pandemic conditions, as the textile and apparel industries, we realized a foreign trade surplus of over 18 billion dollars with exports of 31 billion dollars at the end of the year. As UTİB, we reached an export of 1.35 billion dollars with an increase of 33 percent at the end of 2021. R&D, innovation, and design, which are at the focal point of our lives, play a major role in reaching these figures in our industry. We want to feed our industry with our entrepreneurs and we want to grow by expanding the ecosystem. For this reason, we want to accelerate the development of our sector strongly by bringing together our entrepreneurs who were ranked in the TechXtile Start-Up Challenge, which we organized to bring new entrepreneurs into the sector, with the industrialists in İzmir.”

MORE THAN 250 PROJECTS TURNED INTO COLLABORATION

TechXtile Start-Up Challenge Program Coordinator Ufuk Batum said: “Our R&D Project Market event, which aims to bring young entrepreneurs to the sector, started in 2009 and were more than 250 projects turned into cooperation in 10 years, has been successfully continuing the TechXtile Start-Up Challenge path since 2019. is doing. We believe that our young entrepreneurs, who left behind an intensive training and qualifying process, will make greater progress.” At the end of the program, entrepreneurs had the chance to reach the industrialists directly by making their presentations.

FINAL TOUCHES ON TECHXTILE START-UP CHALLENGE

TARGET, INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR 4 ENTREPRENEURS

Noting that the presentations of the entrepreneurs are of critical importance, Start-Up Challenge Project Coordinator Ufuk Batum stated that the training given until the presentations become the best will add a lot to the entrepreneurs and said, “Optimizing the presentation you will make in front of the jury is the most important way to success. It is very difficult to describe your project effectively in a short time. Therefore, you must make mistakes here and make your presentation error-free. These programs are made to make you shine even more. Last year, 2 of our finalists received investment in their ventures. Our target this year is 4 entrepreneurs. If you explain your project well, you can find investment beyond whether you stay in the degree or not, and you can provide serious benefits to yourself with the network you have expanded by influencing the people you present to.
